Portuguese Ingredients: Pasta

Pasta is a "shaped and dried dough made from flour and water and sometimes eggwell" (Wordweb, 2008). Pasta is considered a tradicional Italian dish but it´s used as a basic ingredient in many other countries, including Portugal.
A simple dish of pasta can be transformed in a delicious meal when you add a classical Italian souce, like: "Salsa al Pesto", "Salsa Pomodori" and "Salsa alla Bolognese".
Tradicional Italian souce ingredients include: Olive oil, garlic, onion, mushrooms, tomatoes, basil (Ocimum basilicum), piñon nuts and parmesan cheese.

The benefits of pasta: A good source of carbohydrates that provide energy; A resonable source of proteins; Low-fat.
