Portuguese Sweet Potatoes

Another type of potatoes very common in Portugal is sweet potatoes. They are produced in different regions like Alentejo e Algarve.
In south Portugal agriculture, sweet potatoes are often considered a biologic product and they are a very important good in local economy.

In Portugal, sweet potatoes are used in main courses, for example, beans with sweet potatoes, as deserts (cakes) or just as an ingredient that can be roasted, boiled or fried.
Sweet potatoes roasted in the oven with sugar and cinnamon taste great and they are so easy to do.

Cinanamon Sweet Potatoes in the Oven:

Mix sugar and cinnamon, cut the potatoes in half (not totally) and fill them with the sugar mixture. Roll them in aluminum paper and cook them in the oven for one hour (200ºC), or until they are cooked. If you can find sweet potatoes in your zone and you like cinnamon, try this recipe and let me know what you thought.

Hi Lynda. Thanks for visiting. This way of cooking sweet potatoes is tradicional in Portugal, great for cold days. I also like them fried but it´s not as healthy.
Ok, if you try let me know what you thought.
Cheers!
