Portuguese Fruits: Cherries

Portuguese cherries can now be found in most supermarkets. The cherries you see in the picture are produced in Portugal´s center region.
I´m so glad their season arrived. This means we´re already in summer.
Along with melons, watermelons, figs and strawberries, cherries are my favorite fruits. The dark ones are sweeter and I like them best when they´re in the fridge for some hours.

Had some great cherries from Fundão a couple of weeks ago. Delicious. For more Portuguese inspired recipes have a look at my blog http://pasto.wordpress.com
