Portuguese Figs

Figs are a typical Portuguese fruit but we only have them fresh in the summer (from May to August). We have two types, green figs and dark figs.
Dry figs are typical in winter and you can find them in most Portuguese supermarkets.
A Portuguese typical Christmas table always includes dry figs and different types of nuts, including almonds when possible.
Figs are also used to make a Portuguese alcoholic drink called "Aguardente de Figo".
I love to pick figs from the trees, they taste better that way.
